ABBALab supports teams who want to challenge making of hardware and services in the Internet of Things, from early phase of prototype up to optimized production. ABBALab’s support includes investment, mentoring and facilities. Monthly updates will be required and additional support will be provided if the teams can demonstrate outcome.（ABBALab’s way of IoT）
Based on valuation of 30 million Yen to 50 million Yen, ABBALab will invest 3 million yen up to 10 million yen for prototype phase. If teams are successful, follow-on investment will be provided starting 5 million yen up to a total of 100 million yen per team to support optimized production.
IoT hardware prototype requires not only mechanical, electrical and cosmetical design knowledge, but also business planning, finance and management. ABBALab with its partner companies and partner mentors will provide necessary mentoring and training programs to acquire necessary skills and knowledge for teams to grow as successful companies.
Teams will have access to DMM.make AKIBA shared office and workshop to conduct daily development activities. All necessary equipment, from electric circuitry, measurement, cosmetic design, test bench etc are accessible 24/7 with the aid of technical staffs as necessary.:]
ABBALab is looking to meet motivated teams with wonderful ideas and plans in IoT hardware, and also possesses a very early prototype. We ask to the teams to produce prototypes aimed to test-market at crowd funding and further on to optimized production. We also ask the team to demonstrate outcome to ABBALab members from time to time.
In the business in general and in the optimized production that ABBALab aims for, we see the importance of knowing how many people want to buy your products. Crowd funding is one of the efficient ways to achieve this and we value this test marketing opportunities in order to assess market demand and further consideration of follow-on investment.
